Michelle's Meatballs
From: www.mishsplayground.com
Serves: 6
Prep & Cooking Time: 45 minutes
Why this recipe is important to me: I learned how to make this when I was a prep cook at this Italian Restaurant called Roma Bella in downtown Oakville. It is gone now.
Ingredients:
- 1 lb of lean ground beef
- 3 garlic gloves, minced
- 4 tsp. parm cheese
- mozzarella (cut into cubes 1cm X 1cm) - 1 for each meatball
- olive oil
- 1 tsp. fresh oregano - minced
- 1 tsp. fresh parsley - minced
- fresh salt and pepper to taste
- 1 egg
- 1 small onion - minced
Instructions:
1. Mix the beef, onion, garlic, oregano, parsley, parma, egg, salt and pepper. Mix well, but not in a blender.
2. Once mixed, make the mixture into ball size portions. (I like to make then 2.5cm x 2.5cm)
3. Once all the mixture has been rolled into balls, make a little hole to the centre in the ball - and place the mozzarella in the middle of the ball. Cover the hole with the mixture. Repeat for all balls.
4. Heat the olive oil until med-high...pan fry the meatballs until cooked.
Other:
If you are adding sauce, add it when the meatballs are close to being fully cooked.
